Chiang Mai means "new city" and was so-named because it was the new capital, founded in 1296. In recent years, Chiang Mai has become an increasingly modern city and has been attracting over 5 million visitors each year, of which between 1.4 million and 2 million are foreign tourists and it is now the most important city of north Thailand, Chiang Mai is one place where there is something for everyone. 


At a distance of 435 miles from Bangkok, the city attracts about 5 million visitors every year. So there is no reason why one should not come to this beautiful city. Thailand is popular for its glittering nightlife but the place has much more to offer. The city is very religious and celebrates many festivals and events. There is a number of tours to witness the wildlife and enjoy photography.
